After wallpaper glue powder enters a new market, installer water may differ from factory test water. Temperature, hardness, minerals, disinfection and storage can change mixing behavior. The correct response is not to assume water is the cause, but to run a paired controlled sample test.
Prepare reference and local water
Split one production lot into two samples. Use an agreed reference or reliable bottled water for one and actual target-market water for the other. Keep containers, powder, water and tools the same. Record local source, sampling time, appearance and any filtration or storage.
Fix temperature and ratio
Bring both waters to a similar temperature and weigh them at the same TDS ratio. Do not estimate one by volume and weigh the other. Record powder and water mass, addition order, addition time, mixing tool, mixing duration and rest time so process differences do not become confused with water effects.
Observe dissolution in stages
At the same time points, record dispersion during addition and any lumps, foam, color or sediment after rest, supported by photographs. Do not compare only the moment immediately after mixing; powder hydration takes time and an early observation can produce the wrong conclusion.
Measure and apply under matched conditions
If a viscometer is used, keep instrument, spindle, speed, temperature and measurement time identical. Then compare spread, initial grab, slip and adjustment on the same wallpaper and substrate panel. Repeat a difference before generalizing it to a city or country.
Turn evidence into local guidance
